Periodontics
What is it?
A Periodontist is a dentist whose practice solely focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease and mucogingival conditions, as well as the placement and treatment of dental implants.
A periodontist must have both a 5-year undergraduate dental degree, and an additional 3-year full time docturate or masters in Periodontology.

Periodontics
Dr Ed Madeley qualified with First Class Honours from Cardiff University in his native Wales.
Whilst studying Ed was awarded the Andrew Gerard Memorial Prize for the most clinically outstanding student; and upon graduation was awarded the Alumni Arts Prize as the student who had provided most to the course both academically and socially.
Following graduation Ed worked in a mixed NHS and Private practice in South Wales, before relocating to Dublin in 2010. During this time Ed secured his membership with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
After 7 years in private practice in Dublin Ed returned to Trinity College Dublin to complete his 3-year full time clinical docturate in Periodontology and Implantology before returning to specialist private practice. Following this Ed gained his fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland.
Dr Ed lectures both in Ireland and internationally on the subject of Periodontontology (gum disease) and dental implants.
